ABOUT FILM NUTS
Film Nuts is a comedic, heartfelt feature documentary and episodic series following two ultra-low-budget film productions and the filmmakers determined to finish them, no matter how chaotic the process becomes.
One follows the making of the superhero film Red Venom Kills. The other centers on an earnest neurodivergent filmmaker and his reluctant collaborator as they attempt to complete their long-cherished buddy-cop project, Dragnet of Spies, amid delays, creative clashes, setbacks, and the unpredictable realities of independent filmmaking.
Funny, personal, and often absurd, Film Nuts is ultimately about the people who keep making movies because they simply can’t imagine doing anything else.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
Film Nuts began with a fascination for filmmakers who keep creating even when everything seems to be working against them. My longtime friend and producing partner, Kurt Mayry, understood that world better than anyone I knew.
Over several years, I followed two grassroots productions as ambition collided with reality—friendships were tested, crews walked away, plans collapsed, and determination became the only thing keeping the films alive.
Kurt died from cancer before we could finish Film Nuts together. Completing the film became deeply personal, and I found myself facing the same question as the filmmakers I had been following: when circumstances give you every reason to stop, do you stop—or find a way to finish?
Film Nuts is my answer.
